Apple has recently made changes to how email is handled in iOS, affecting how notifications from Classmates.com and other platforms reach your inbox. If you’ve noticed you’re missing updates about new messages, yearbook activity, or reunion news, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered!
What’s Changing with iOS?
Apple’s latest iOS update includes enhanced privacy and filtering features, which may impact how emails are delivered to your inbox. Here’s what’s happening:
- More Aggressive Spam & Promotions Filtering: Apple Mail may now send some emails to the Promotions or Junk folder automatically.
- Mail Privacy Protection (MPP) Updates: Apple is further restricting email tracking, meaning you might not see open-tracking data and could miss real-time activity alerts.
- New ‘Digest’ and Summary Features: iOS may now group notifications into summaries, delaying when you see them.
How to Make Sure You Keep Receiving Classmates.com Notifications
To prevent missing important updates, follow these simple steps:
1. Add Classmates.com to Your Contacts
Adding our email address to your contacts tells Apple Mail that we’re a trusted sender.
- Open the Mail app.
- Find an email from Classmates.com.
- Tap the sender’s name and select Add to Contacts.
2. Move Classmates Emails to Your Primary Inbox
If our emails land in the Junk or Promotions folder:
- Go to your Mail app.
- Open the email from Classmates.com.
- Tap the Move button and select Inbox.
- iOS will remember this preference for future emails.
3. Disable Mail Privacy Protection (Optional)
If you want real-time email tracking for your Classmates notifications, you can turn off Apple’s Mail Privacy Protection.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Mail > Privacy Protection.
- Toggle Protect Mail Activity OFF.
4. Check Your Notification Settings
Apple’s new Notification Summaries may delay alerts.
- Open Settings > Notifications.
- Find Mail and select Classmates.com.
- Make sure Immediate Delivery is turned ON.
5. Use a Non-Apple Email App (If Needed)
If you’re still missing emails, consider checking your Classmates.com account using Gmail, Outlook, or another email app, which may not apply the same filtering as Apple Mail.
